There's a brief moment in time when the Black Crowes were the most rock 'n roll rock 'n roll band in the world. This evening was pretty close to it, too.
There were plenty of 'cool' people there - the band had decided to throw in their lot by making a pop record, rather than their usual, slightly obscure and obtuse albums, and the tour to promote the record all fit the theme of 'music to get your shit together by'. Noel Gallagher threw up and was carried about before the show even started, or so I've heard. The band played excellently, not surprising since they've been a live band for years now. There was plenty of chemistry and Chris even had the chance to swat away some drunken idiot who ran onto the stage. He hit him with the mic stand and didn't even break stride. 'No fish and chips for you tonight', he chided the security guards. If I remember right he even found the time to lecture anyone in the audience who thought about crowd-surfing. "This isn't MTV". Indeed, it's far, far from that.
